My chiropractor said it was very good. This book is very good. I think it will help with my TMJ.
For helping me to understand the link between TMJ and other body pain and for giving me some tools to lessen that pain, I give this book 5 stars. My dentist, who I had once thought was excellent, sold me a very expensive night guard but never mentioned that a few exercises might immediately ease the pain in my jaw, lessen my headaches, and give me a sense that there is actually something that I could do to help myself. (I am going to suggest to my dentist that he recommend this book to all his TMJ patients). I also found this book by accident: I was at the library while looking for books about shoulder pain and finger numbness. I was amazed to find out that my new pain was possibly related to my TMJ.
Exercise illustrations are also easy to follow. And in an easy to read format. This compact book is a treasure throve of great advice for tmj sufferers. It contains exercises, advice, everything needed to control tmj and more.
More trips to the dentist for maliclusion fixes, and examinations for cracked teeth turned up nothing. I am going to try to find another book on Amazon that may help me better. I have now scheduled an appt with the physical therapist to see if I can find a correlation between TMJ and my tooth pain. There has got to be a better book out there.Good luck if you are in a similar situation. I went to the dentist many times who did not find anything wrong with my teeth. It is nice to know that some people got help from this book. I did not, and here is why : The book is badly organized and the information while helpful is not straigh-forward. Nothing did help.
That tooth continues to hurt as well. This isn't a terrible book, but didn't help me very much other than to give some hope. No one has any answers. You have my empathy. The pain is so bad I want to resign from my job and live with my parents ( I am 36 mind you). After about 8 months my upper teeth ceased to hurt, but 2 lower rear molars still hurt, 1 even had a root canal and continued to hurt. I will try to go the TMJ route again. 2 years ago, I started having extreme pain chewing, and pain in my molars.
I have also visited a neurologist as well as an ENT. There is little to help with the tooth pain issue in this book, and I once again thought it might be dental and got another root canal. I got a mouth guard and went to a oral surgeon and got MRI's etc. My problem is tooth pain, and that is why I bought this book.
Most patients are amazed how much better they feel by following the instructions from this book. Simple diagram and easy to read instructions. I am a general dentist in state of Oregon. I highly recommend this book. Patient treat themselves without medication is a wonderful thing.Chris Tiu DMD I loan this book to my patient who has TMD or think he/she has TMD. (Everyone has TMJ but not everyone has TMD) I let them read this book for couple weeks and a short follow up visit.
